Dani Traphagen

I'm a wildlife photographer and technologist with a deep commitment to sharing the wonders of the natural world — and an intention of preserving its beauty for future generations.

My work is rooted in a simple belief: that the creatures who share this planet with us deserve to be seen, understood, and protected. Through imagery and written experiences, I aim to amplify the voices of the voiceless — the wolves holding territory in Yellowstone's valleys, the herds enduring another brutal winter, the quiet dramas unfolding every day in wild places most people will never visit.

I believe in ethical, non-invasive wildlife photography. No baiting, no chumming, no drones over nesting sites. The best images come from patience, respect, and being willing to sit in the cold for hours waiting for a moment that may never come.

Beyond the camera, I work in technology — and I carry the same values into that work. I believe in using technology for a better world where possible, building things that matter, and staying conscious of the impact our tools have on the natural systems we depend on.

I'm drawn to the sea and the coast as much as the mountains. To wild weather and difficult light. To the stories that live at the edges of things. When I'm not behind a lens, I'm likely on a surfski — learning what the ocean has to teach, which is considerable.
